Fitness Challenge – Win a Polar Heart Rate Monitor

I got a Facebook message from one of my girls in Healthy Body Club, a weight loss support network for women I have run for the last 8 years, and it was such a great idea I had to share it with everyone.

She had committed to doing 2012 kilometres of exercise in 2012 and asked me if I wanted to join in.  Now I am no runner, so much so that just yesterday I took this quote as my inspiration: No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everyone on the couch! So if I am being honest, and not deluding myself that I am in any way sporty or athletic (I managed to avoid ALL high school sports by writing the school newspaper), then I will admit that this would be a challenge if I agreed to do it.

But see, therein lies the key to me saying, “Why sure I’ll do it!” because if there is anything I love more than chocolate, it is a challenge. Seriously, I accidentally signed up for the longest of three triathlon distances a few years ago and instead of swapping out to the beginner distance which is what I should have done, instead I committed to doing it (and finishing), no matter how long it took.…

Stoopid!!!! But with a BIG heart!

I want to save the world. Yep a big and some might say impossible task. I’m that girl chasing dedraggled dogs down alleyways rescuing them from life on the streets. I once jumped into a shark infested tank to rescue a rain drenched cockatoo during a cyclone in Northern Queensland. Another time I gave a teen girl covered in blood my son’s clothes, my couch and a chance at a better life ( see: American Street Kid Project post soon). If I see someone in need I can’t help but open my heart, my home and sometimes even my wallet to them. More recently there have been times when the beggars on the streets of Beverly Hills have had more change in their cup than I have had in my bank account but that hasn’t stopped me from buying a tin of soup or an apple for them on my way out of the supermarket. That’s just who I am.

Healthy Body Club has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Helping other women heal their lives has been so rewarding and one day when I am more financial it will help even more but for now I continue to help whoever I can on my path of healing my own life and sharing what I learn with others.…

Fat-shion Bashing!

Oops I did it again!

Okay, well I never planned to start a war of words but anyone who knows me knows I will never shy away from a weighty debate, pun very much intended. I find it ironic that I have been brought to Australia from LA by www.1selectfitness.com.au to promote a website that finds the right gym for everybody no matter what size/type they are and am grateful that they realize that there are many types of bodies seeking health and fitness and that not all “poster” girls are skin and bones.

So, following on from my Blog entitled “One size does not fit all” before attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Week’s Big is Beautiful catwalk show there are a number of issues I must address.

First of all, it was so exciting and refreshing to see so many REAL women on the catwalk as well as the allegedly “BIG” and undoubtedly beautiful models. I was saddened to see many empty seats but not surprised. I am ecstatic to see so many designers spreading their rolled out paper a little further enabling women who are a little more curvalicious than others have the luxury of dressing in something other than tracky daks and pooh bear sweaters usually found in the PLUs size section – a place I shopped in for many years.…
