Fitness Challenge – Win a Polar Heart Rate Monitor

I got a Facebook message from one of my girls in Healthy Body Club, a weight loss support network for women I have run for the last 8 years, and it was such a great idea I had to share it with everyone.

She had committed to doing 2012 kilometres of exercise in 2012 and asked me if I wanted to join in.  Now I am no runner, so much so that just yesterday I took this quote as my inspiration: No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everyone on the couch! So if I am being honest, and not deluding myself that I am in any way sporty or athletic (I managed to avoid ALL high school sports by writing the school newspaper), then I will admit that this would be a challenge if I agreed to do it.

But see, therein lies the key to me saying, “Why sure I’ll do it!” because if there is anything I love more than chocolate, it is a challenge. Seriously, I accidentally signed up for the longest of three triathlon distances a few years ago and instead of swapping out to the beginner distance which is what I should have done, instead I committed to doing it (and finishing), no matter how long it took.…

Getting your Skinny on!

I am always looking for ways I can incorprate indulgence with the healthiest option possible – the very reason I wrote my recipe book Food You Love That Won’t Make You Fat.

So when it comes to my secret sideline of making birthday cakes for the people I love I always try to make a healthier version. For example this is a low fat strawberry cake made with light frosting and adorned with Skinny Cow Caramel Clusters dusted in edible gold dust. Love it!

Over the next month we are going to be giving away some great prizes (check back in to find out what) and I am excited to announce my first ever recipe competition. Give me a recipe for something made healthier, post a photo and wait to hear if you win but go to bed knowing you have helped a whole lotta people get their skinny on!

And it doesn’t have to be fancy. For instance I do a Cold Rock home made ice cream made with low fat sugar free lollies and Skinny Cow ice cream. Cut and smash the candy, add it to the ice cream and voila!!! Yum Yum without a thousand calories and back fat!…

Der! Winning!

I’ve been living in LA for a year and a half and it has taken me this long to get tickets to the Ellen Show! And the only reason I got them was because I went to the filming of Bethenny Frankel’s pilot which ironically I begged and pleaded my friend David, who works for Ellen (and who produced Beth’s pilot) to go. Apparrently they bribed a lot of Ellen’s audience with guaranteed tix if they went and saw BF’s show. Seriously, I can’t wait for her to have her own show. She is one of my heroes! LEGEND! And her show was great! Yes, some parts were dreadfully painful but will no doubt be edited and produced out but BF represents hope to so many people she is destined to be a star no matter how she shines!

Anyway I ended up with 2 tickets to go and see Ellen (yayyyy!!!!) and in my usual way I think how can I turn this into something good that benefits others?

Well, I have decided to auction one ticket off and give the money to the NO H8 campaign. I am hoping that other businesses will get on board and sweeten the deal with airfares, accom, spending money, gift cards, limos rides etc but let’s just start with a ticket, accompanying me to Ellen.…
