Fat-shion Bashing!

Oops I did it again!

Okay, well I never planned to start a war of words but anyone who knows me knows I will never shy away from a weighty debate, pun very much intended. I find it ironic that I have been brought to Australia from LA by www.1selectfitness.com.au to promote a website that finds the right gym for everybody no matter what size/type they are and am grateful that they realize that there are many types of bodies seeking health and fitness and that not all “poster” girls are skin and bones.

So, following on from my Blog entitled “One size does not fit all” before attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Week’s Big is Beautiful catwalk show there are a number of issues I must address.

First of all, it was so exciting and refreshing to see so many REAL women on the catwalk as well as the allegedly “BIG” and undoubtedly beautiful models. I was saddened to see many empty seats but not surprised. I am ecstatic to see so many designers spreading their rolled out paper a little further enabling women who are a little more curvalicious than others have the luxury of dressing in something other than tracky daks and pooh bear sweaters usually found in the PLUs size section – a place I shopped in for many years.…

One size does not fit all!

Round em up! All of them! You can spot em a mile away. They
all look alike…..they tend to stick together and they are different ….the food
they eat….the clothes they wear…. ….…. they should be labeled, segregated and diligently separated from the other of their kind, the ones who are obviously far superior. I am speaking of, dare I say it, the larger models appearing in today’s catwalk show, “Big is Beautiful”, part of The Mercedes Fashion Week.

Now when I say “larger” and “big” I don’t really mean obese,
or even overweight. More than likely the women walking the catwalk will be a more genuine representation of the normal, average every day woman,
statistically a higher percentage of the population than the majority of models gracing the other catwalks this week.

But I have just one question to ask? Why are these statistically realistic, healthy, empowered, beautiful women given “their own show”? What’s next? “Black is back?” “Jew is new”? Seriously, before you call me racist you had better be sure you are not being size-ist! Because believe me, I am sick and tired of this segregational size-ism that goes on again and again and again.

Take Ricki-Lee – a beautiful and talented woman.…

Birds of a Feather!

No big long winded eye opening blog today. Just a laugh. I
love this really stupid craze called “planking” and its newer little sister
called “owling”. Seriously, I just love a bloody good laugh and I have absolutely
NO problem taking the Mickey out of myself to have one.

And so, when given a quiet moment with a camera and a
beautiful view I just had to do it. This is my very first official “Owling” on
the edge of Sydney Harbor.

When I do the Bridge Climb I will do one there too and if I had some way of getting on the
top of some goal posts relatively safely I would be “owling” there too.

With or without all of my Mojo I have but one thing to say
about having a darn good laugh: I am thankful for it – except when milk comes
out of my nose!

Whoo hoo!…

Facing The Dragon!

Facing The Dragon.

Ooh it sounds so Karate Kid faces his arch nemesis over a competition he has trained for like the brave and diligent little grasshopper he is. In some ways it is exactly like that for me. I am talking about facing the Australian media for my trip back home happening over the next few weeks.

Fame is a fickle beast and unless you have had someone camped on your doorstep terrorising your child for hours on end or had to pull up outside a police station having driven through 5 suburbs and three red lights to get away from a car chasing you through the streets, you can’t really understand what it is like. And before you say, “Well you chose that career” I have to say that I chose to write books that helped others heal their lives like I was doing with my own. I did Biggest Loser because I genuinely thought I would be able to help and subsequently reach more people with my message of healing your life, learning to love and respect yourself and not starve yourself stupid in an effort to have the perfect body/life.

I did not sign up to people spying on me in my private life,  nor did I subscribe to the publishing of an endless stream of lies, nastiness and bullying that the Australian media seems to think is some kind of national past time.…

Let’s start at the very beginning…..

Okay, so what now?

I don’t know! It’s not like I had an actual plan or anything. If you go to the internet and Google “finding my mojo” it’s just a bunch of fat old people videoing themselves with their 500 cats complaining that they are lonely, old and fat. What does that say about me? It’s a rhetorical question. I don’t actually want you to send me lists of what you actually think is wrong with me, but thanks anyway!

Okay, well I guess the first thing would be to make a list, and check it twice! Oh gosh, really? Shall I start with the obvious? Hmmm well in a nutshell everything! My financial situation for a start. Bethenny Frankel (my new obsession/hero) tweeted the other day that at the age of forty she bought her very first home. I was so happy and proud for her. Bethenny really represents hope for everyone wanting something better in their life, not willing to “settle” for whatever life has so far dished up so far.

So many people, for so many years have said when you get to forty your career in the arts/entertainment is over. I had a fat ugly ageing extremely unattractive sweaty producer and (so called) friend of mine tell me to not even bother coming to America because every woman over the age of 40 is a casting mistake.…
